Proposed Rule Changes. During the Annual Judges’ Governance meeting in September, the judges agreed to several proposed changes to the Civil and Criminal Local Rules. These changes were then reviewed and modified by the Federal Practice Committee, which are now available on the District Court’s website for public notice and comment along with an explanatory memorandum. There are ten proposed changes to the civil local rules and eleven to the criminal local rules. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email them to Matt_Thelen@sdd.uscourts.gov.

2025 Holiday Schedule. The Court has issued its 2025 Holiday Schedule.

Closure Reminder. The Court will be closed Wednesday, December 25th in observance of Christmas Day, as well as Wednesday, January 1st in observance of New Year’s Day.
