CM/ECF Resources and Information

On July 3, 2003, this district court began utilizing a comprehensive system called Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) to store electronic civil and criminal case files and offer electronic filing. With some exceptions, attorneys are required to electronically file (e-file) their civil and criminal case documents in CM/ECF, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week over the internet. Attorneys and pro se parties who have been approved to e-file case documents must receive training prior to being allowed to e-file and access restricted documents in CM/ECF. Otherwise, anyone can register with the PACER Service Center to read, download, store, and/or print any unrestricted document filed in CM/ECF.

On April 12, 2021, this district court transitioned from CurrentGen CM/ECF to NextGen CM/ECF, the latest iteration of CM/ECF. Many federal courts have already made this transition, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and several regional district courts and bankruptcy courts. The transition to NextGen CM/ECF allows attorneys and approved pro se filers to maintain just one account to e-file case documents and access restricted documents and other information stored in our court’s CM/ECF system and e-file documents in other federal courts.
