ACCESS AND RULES WITHIN COURTHOUSES DUE TO COVID-19

STANDING ORDER 23-03

On May 11, 2023, more than three years after the coronavirus was declared a public health emergency, the emergency declaration expired. Now therefore,

IT IS ORDERED:

1. Amended Standing Order 22-05 is vacated.

2. Those seeking to enter any United States courthouse in the District of South Dakota must follow the GSA COVID-related restrictions and signage.

3. Due to the fluid nature of the COVID-19 outbreak, the limited capacity for air exchange in some older courthouses, and need for flexibility in responding, the judicial officer before whom any hearing is scheduled may determine whether any different
standards should apply for a particular court proceeding.
