NEWS FROM U.S. DISTRICT COURT
October 10, 2025

Update: Filing Non-Public Documents. As a result of changes rolled out last week by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, attorneys can resume filing sealed, restricted, and ex parte (non-public) documents in criminal, magistrate, and miscellaneous cases in CM/ECF. Although attorneys can recommence filing non-public documents in CM/ECF, the documents will not be accessible or viewable by electronic means. This change will require non-public documents to be served upon the parties by other appropriate means as provided by the Federal Rules of Procedure. See Standing Order 25-03.

CJA Payments. In July, we disclosed that the funds for the Defender Services Program were depleted and all vouchers were being held in a queue until funding becomes available. Congress has not passed a budget or continuing resolution at this time; therefore, the payments are still being held in the queue. Once a budget or continuing resolution is passed, the eVoucher program will immediately begin processing payments. It is expected to take approximately 1-week to process the payments (in order of approval).

Multifactor Authentication Update. The PACER Service Center (PSC) is currently experiencing long call wait times due to the enforcement of several security features that will enhance the security of PACER accounts, including updated password standards and multifactor authentication (MFA). To help mitigate the wait times, enforcement of the updated password standards has been temporarily delayed. In addition, PSC is asking that only users who receive a prompt to enroll in MFA when they log in should do so. If you do not receive an MFA enrollment prompt, no action is necessary. Please do not contact the PSC with questions about MFA until you are required to enroll. This ensures support is available for those who need it. Some common questions received are answered on the list of MFA Tips and Resources, which should be reviewed before calling the PSC.

Reminder. The court will be closed on Monday, October 13th in observance of Native American Day and November 11th in observance of Veterans Day.
