Attorney Newsletter June, 2026

NEWS FROM U.S. DISTRICT COURT
June 12, 2026

Multifactor Authentication Update. It has been a year since the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts began implementing multifactor authentication to enhance system security for CM/ECF and PACER. Many attorneys have received pop-up notifications about enrollment and have completed the process. If you have not enrolled, keep in mind that you can only skip the update one time before your account is disabled. If your account is disabled, you must call PACER, not the Clerk’s Office. Hold times for PACER can be long, so plan accordingly. The Clerk’s Office does not accept filings via email.

CJA Update. If you are counsel appointed under the Criminal Justice Act (CJA), we encourage you to submit your voucher as soon as the case is finished. The court also encourages you to submit interim vouchers once your work on the case is complete due to new counsel taking over, or you’ve been appointed more than six months and your voucher exceeds $4,000. Subsequent interim vouchers can be submitted after six months and an additional $4,000 accrued. Last year funds for the Defender Services Program were depleted in July. This year the program received full funding from Congress. It is important to spend the money this fiscal year, so Congress does not reduce the Defender Services budget next year.

Pay.gov. A Pay.gov outage is scheduled for June 20, 2026, beginning at 5:00 pm ET.

Closure Reminder. The Court will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day and Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.
