Temporary Emergency Law Clerk position authorized. The District of South Dakota has received funding for a temporary law clerk position to assist with criminal matters in the Western Division. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 6th. The one-year term will begin October 2, 2023, and ends September 30, 2024. Duties will include drafting orders on motions to suppress evidence, motions for severance, competency issues, motions to dismiss the indictment, and scheduling, along with drafting jury instructions and other miscellaneous matters. The law clerk will have an opportunity to work with judges from South Dakota and visiting judges from districts outside of South Dakota.
