COURTROOM TECHNOLOGY: In an effort to keep up with evolving technology, all courtrooms in the District of South Dakota now feature high definition video evidence presentation equipment. This equipment can facilitate presentations that offer clearer and easier-to-understand information and is simple to use. If you would like to learn more, please contact the Clerk’s Office to schedule an appointment.
If you plan to present high definition video evidence in court, here are some tips to keep in mind:

1. Test your equipment

We recommend you bring your equipment and any digital evidence that you plan to use several days in advance, so you can test it to ensure it is compatible with our equipment.

2. Video formats

We provide both HDMI and VGA inputs at all counsel tables. HDMI generally has fewer issues and provides a higher-quality picture.

3. Adapter cables

Laptops and other devices may require an adapter to connect to HDMI. Although we provide an HDMI cable, we cannot guarantee that we will have the appropriate cables or adapters for your specific device.

4. Power

We provide power outlets at all counsel tables. Remember to bring your device’s power adapter so you do not run out of power in the middle of a presentation.

5. Shortcuts

It is helpful to know the keyboard shortcuts to project your evidence on the courtroom’s equipment. With Microsoft Windows, you can press the Windows + P keys, and select Duplicate. If you are using an Apple Macintosh computer, you can select the Mac + F1 keys.

COURT CALENDAR: A public court calendar is now available on the District Court’s website located at www.sdd.uscourts.gov. Click on Court Info on the blue menu bar and select Public Calendar from the list on the left-hand side of the screen. You can filter by judge, date, office, and events (up to one week out). You can also enter a specific case number and filter for deadlines and/or all dates related to that case.
